Elder Holland Tempe Arizona Devotional - "Don't you dare bail"

At 2:10 - "Don’t you dare bail. I am so furious with people who leave this church. I don’t know whether ‘furious’ is a good apostolic word. But I am. What on earth kind of conviction is that? What kind of patty-cake, taffy-pull experience is that? As if none of this ever mattered, as if nothing in our contemporary life mattered, as if this is all just supposed to be “just exactly the way I want it and answer every one of my questions and pursue this and occupy that and defy this – and then maybe I’ll be a Latter-Day Saint”?! Well, there’s too much Irish in me for that."

The more I listen to Elder Holland as an ex-Mo, the more I conclude that he is a despicable, controlling and manipulative man.

"And I'm not gonna let you leave."

I have a very hard time believing that this is how Christ would have the leaders of his church speak to His children. Listening to Elder Holland actually scares me. I feel bad for someone that needs to speak that harshly to try to convince people of the "truth."

He knows he is lying, right?  Right?

My wife and daughter LOVE JBH to death! I never had a problem with him until a couple yrs ago and his rant in Gen Conf abt the turned down page of Hyrum Smith's BofM from Carthage. That hurt.

Now Elder Jeffrey B says he is angry bcz I (we) have legitimate questions??? He never answers any questions ... He only rails against those who have them. Grrrrr!

It's hard to understand why you cannot have an honest and civil discussion with Jeffrey Holland without getting castigated. Of what use is that? His style of declarationism never solves a thing.

What kind of patty-cake, taffy-pull experience is indoctrinating children into a singular religion from birth (I'm condemning my former self, here), convincing them that if they don't enter into mysterious covenants as young adults they'll rank as second-class citizens throughout eternity? What kind of patty-cake, taffy-pull experience is whitewashing Church history and doctrine within lesson manuals for thinking members? What kind of patty-cake, taffy-pull experience is swallowing down your legitimate questions and concerns until they turn into an ulcer, pretending they don't exist to please your priesthood leaders and maintain appearances on Sunday?

Bruce Holt from this group asked the fundamental question: "Would you rather I live a lie or be honest?" It's so interesting that honesty incites hissy fits.

Get used to it, Jeffery!  The rank-and-file Mormons who don't yet realize that they are serving a false god, a human man who supposedly became a god, with a capital G, and that Mormon theology proclaims that all worthy Mormon elders will realize their Joseph Smith fashioned destiny of becoming as great as their Mormon father-god, with a capital G, by becoming father-gods themselves, will soon see "Lesson 21" in their mailboxes.  Thank the real Lord God of Israel, the real Jesus Christ, for the Mormon arrogance of publishing "Lesson 21-Man May Become Like God" in 1984, in the Melchizedek Priesthood Study Guide, "Search These Commandments."  This piece of self-deprecating Mormon literature will also find its way into the homes of all struggling Christians who will eventually meet your 72,000 full-time Mormon missionaries, who are lying to these Christians for your Mormon lord.

The real Jesus Christ told his true disciples to "preach the Gospel to every person upon the earth."  That also includes informing Christians about false gospels, for them to realize that they are to be accursed by God and man; for them to eschew them.  Get used to the fact that, every day, people are going to be leaving your cult to accept the real Jesus Christ of the Holy Bible.
