Many people who go from activity to inactivity in the church, or even leave entirely are usually though of as being thin skinned. As if the only reason a person would leave the "Church" is because they are easily upset or offended. I have even been told that I probably was offended and that is why I am an Atheist. Well to all the Mormons out there... YES! I left the church because it offended me.
It offends my sense of decency when it claims Black people are descended from the very first murderer and that Black people did not fight valiantly enough in the premortal life.
It offends my sense of reason when it tells me that the earth is young and we are all descended from Mud-Man and Rib-Girl who lived in Missouri around 7000 years ago, and how dinosaurs lived on other planets.
It offends my morality by telling me that even a latte can keep you out of the Celestial Kingdom and that every thought, feeling, and deed I did was inherently immoral. What's more is that I have to rely on the son of an extraterrestrial to save me from his father and myself.
And finally it offends my very essence and humanity. When the lies and the doublethink and guilt drive people, like myself to try to alleviate the pain through suicide. I survived, but many have not and their blood in on the hands of Joe Smith Jr. all the way down the line to T.S. Monson.
If this offends you consider why? Is it because myself and others won't be silent while evil triumphs, or that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a blight on the world?
