I am a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. And this website is a hurtful thing to everyone who believes in The Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, all of the former Prophets, and most of all people who believe in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave His life for all of us, including all of the members on this website. All of the members on this website know deep down that this is the true church. You know it. And no matter what you do, say, or post, out Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will love you no matter what.

John 3:16-

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The thing true blue mormons don't get is that it is possible to have a wonderful life sans the church, and not live in fear of where you are going after death.  It's wonderful for those who choose not to believe, it's wonderful for those who do, but do it elsewhere.  Instead of rejoicing that there are people out there truly committed to caring for one another, the poor, those without healthcare, they go around bemoaning the fact that someone left their little corner of the world.  So limited!

I'd guess that happy, fulfilled ex-members are something of a threat to many LDS.

Maybe a threat, yes.  But I remember in my limited knowledge of the church, and of historical scripture, feeling terribly sorry for a dear friend who, with her husband and children left the church.  She'd gone back to the Methodist church of her girlhood with friends, and decided she didn't want to leave, and I felt terribly sorry for her.  Ran in to her in the store, and her face turned bright red as she didn't know what to say to me.  I just hugged her and told her I was glad things were working out for her.  But I just didn't get it.  Not for another 12 years.

I hear what you're saying, Pollypinks. I suppose my comment pertains more to folks who harbor doubts. For them, I think, a happy ex-member might threaten their sense of well-being; I was raised to believe that only LDS can be truly happy.

I was raised to believe only LDS could have the full and complete knowledge and happiness in this life. And it's so funny, because all 5 of my dad's children have left the church.  So he sticks our names on the prayer list at the temple once a week.  My my, we are so miserable.

I take it that because this is a troll given how there's no other posts by this guy. Strange though, why come and troll a site like this?

I'm not even going to bother leaving an extremely well thought out comment until you can prove that you're not here to cause trouble.

I am a proud Atheist and Ex-Mormon and your church, Proudmormon, is hurtful to everyone who comes here to this cite for community and understanding.

The people here are actually grown up enough to realize they can read whatever material they want, without asking permission of some old guys in suits. Scared of what you might find? Whats with the "Anti-Mormon" stigma you like so much? How would you know, you haven't read any of it. You're like a little kid told not to play outside. "I have to not read the bad books, because the men at church said so." Oh the pity, little faithful baby. Don't worry, if you stay faithful, blind, and obedient, we won't let the mean ex mormons get you.

The really sad part is that you know the truth. You know what it's like to sit quietly on your knees begging god to answer your prayers, and hear nothing. You know what it's like to ask for help, only to have things get worse, or harder. You know what it's like to wonder why you don't hear a voice or have inspiration on the level that the leaders do. You know what it's like to teach your children values from a church manual, rather than with your heart. You know what it's like to give money, time, energy, hope, faith, and love with everything you've got, just to be told, "We need more. God requires more of you. You are not faithful, loving, energetic, and successful enough." Because that is the message of Mormonism, deep down. You are broken, you need to be fixed by us, every day, until you die.

We all know, because we all did it, just like you. Pissing away our time and effort, hoping for a better tomorrow. Then one day, we had had enough, and we left.

You wanna know the best part? We are happy now. But you? Oh yes, you are still there, trapped on the hamsters wheel. I can see you now in my minds eye. Scurry quickly. God is not happy with your progress.

It occurs to me, Proudmormon, that your pride in your religion hasn't motivated you enough to bother writing anything else on the forum. Hmmmm.... Last I checked, god isn't too happy to have cowards working for him. Aren't you supposed to be bold? Sad....really sad.....
