I read a statement that the Mormon Church made about how the local leaders handled Garn's disciplinary situation. It is interesting how they did not mention how Mr. Garn was disciplined. However, they did mentioned that the women involved, who was a young girl at the time of the abuse, that she had an extramarital affair and was excommunicated from the church. That makes my blood boil. I don't know how Mr. Garn was disciplined, however I find it sick, wrong and unfair that the Mormon Church is trying to drag this women through the mire. What a dispicable organization. Also, shame on the Utah politicians for giving him a standing ovation when he admited to victimizing this women when she was a girl. Shame on all of them. I don't know how those church leaders, or politicians can look at themselves in the mirror without throwing up. They support the child pedophile and not the victim. Things are not well in Zion.

Yes, the standing ovation was a bit troubling, almost as though they were partners in crime, cheering each other on. I'm glad that he resigned. I think it might be a foreshadowing that he knows more is likely to come to light.

It makes my blood boil, too. Incidents like this brings into the light of day the misogyny of the LDS church which beforetimes has been subtle and hidden. What really got me was how he said (with a straight face) that paying people off was how he handled his problems. He made the woman a scapegoat for violating the non-disclosure agreement after she was given $150,000.

Reminds me of my best friends dad. On his mission his comp confessed to having sex with his girl friend thenight before he went to the MTC. The missionary did not take the sacrement for a month, the girl was excommunicated. When I found out I was having a daughter I left the church. Stupid cult ruins women.
