About to leave for the airport - Going to SLC

I am sitting in my apartment trying not to chew my fingernails off. I am going back to Utah to spend time with the family for two weeks over the holidays. I have not seen them for about 8 months and this is the first time that I will be seeing them face to face since we started having conversations about why I am leaving the church. Things are very bipolar. Sometimes my family seems ok and we have normal calm conversations about normal things (work, school, whatever). Other times the conversation is completely focused on how they are praying and fasting for me...

This should be interesting.

hmm. Sounds like your in for an interesting, and probably somewhat uncomfortable journey. I hope it goes well for you. They may surprise you and not make it into a bigger deal than it really is.

Ok... So I am a drama queen. I admit it. Things went much better than I had expected. My mom was my mom - like normal. I heard a lot of "I didn't raise you like that." "You are a big girl and will just have to make your own decisions." But all in all not as bad as I had built it up to be.

My Dad, come to find out, has not been going to church for like six months. When everyone else went to church he took me out and bought me coffee and we built a greenhouse in the back yard. We also had some good church discussions. My dad is way more NOM than I ever suspected! Who knew?!

It turned out much better than I thought it would.

Glad it turned out to not be such a big deal for them, and congrats about having an NOM dad! I'd love to sip coffee with my parents.
