To the First Presidency and Quorum of 12:

Until recently, I like many others who have become disaffected from the fairy tale of the LDS church…suffered alone…. completely alone in the knowledge that my God given intellect discovered.  I cannot express adequately the sorrow, of loss of family and the faith crushing…

If Joseph were alive today, and you were the jury:

Would you find the Defendant, guilty or not guilty, of the charges of:

1) Philanderer, adulterer, bigamist, polygamist, pedophile

2) Pious fraud and running a pyramid scheme (including his years as a treasure seeker prior to ordaining himself a…

Temple Experience

I was 30 before I got married. Living in Provo and being single until 30 was really odd. One of the things I absolutely hated was what I called the three key questions. There can be more or less but usually there are three questions someone asks you when you first meet. When I lived in LA the questions were always based on money...What kind of car do you drive? What do you do for a living, (how much money do you make)? Where do you live, (again, where you live determined your net…

My brief time as a seminary student

This is my very first time posting a Blog so please be kind. :-)

i am new to the group and was filling out some info and it brought up a lot of old memories so I thought I would share some of them.

I went to High School in Provo, Utah. For those not aware of this, at the time, (not sure how it is now), if you maintained a high enough GPA then you could attend Seminary during regular school hours as if it were a normal class. You didn't get credit for it, it just…

Thankful Is ... Mormon Inc In Freefall!!!!!

We are the generation of now ex-Mormons who

are witnessing the downfall and decline of the

Mormon church in this age of the Internet - where

the Information Highway has been able to expose it

as the atrocity it is for all the world to see -

that it's a sham of the…

Going Clear - Mormon version

I saw "Going Clear" over the weekend and had a thought. So I wrote an e-mail to Alex Gibney, the film maker, proposing a Mormon version. The e-mail address was a general "info@" type address, so I didn't know what to expect.

Here's the e-mail:

"Dear Mr. Gibney,

Over the weekend I watched your film "Going Clear". I was stunned! I am an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as "Mormons". As…

Renegade Spirit: Why didn't Joe become a preacher man?

If his heart were 'truly' in the ministry, and bringing people to salvation, he would have worked toward that end. Many men and women go into ministry to earn their livelihood, without becoming or joining a cult to do that. Why all the fanfare? Did he not believe he'd be taken seriously if he'd have simply called himself a 'Minister,' and gone about teaching the spoken word?

Instead he painted a radical fringe religion that defied the social order then, and it still would today were…

Reflections of a Mormon God, and finding God after Mormonism

Despite differences of perceptions on God and the world we inhabit, there is a distinct God found in Mormonism, than the biblical God found in the bible.

Joseph Smith's views of God were not static. According to one source, at the beginning of the LDS church his steward Oliver Cowdery addressed God as having certain attributes as found in the 1834 version of the Articles of Faith such as: "We believe that God is the same in all ages, and that it requires the same holiness,…

So a band of ex-Mos breaks into dance and song with a 'Nay' vote @ GC

Now that is something I would've loved to witness, but for I don't watch GC.
According to the news, the Grass roots group organized yesterday's disturbance, and pulled it off quite brilliantly. May be small in numbers, but think of the millions they reached! :D

"In the press release, group organizers encouraged church members to anonymously send their general conference…

The Mormon church has destroyed my past, but I won't let it ruin my future!

Growing up in a Mormon family had it's memories of fun times and as I grew older those memories became hurts.  As a child you just kind of go with the flow and attend church and activities because that's, well, just what the whole family did.  It's all we knew.  Rehearsed prayers, rehearsed testimonies, no tv on Sunday, no coffee, no playing with non member friends, etc.  As a young women in the church they teach you, or should I say brainwash you, on the next step in your lives.  Go to…

Da Hell's wrong with me?

The Elders showed up at my door tonight with their curious timing and all the social pomp of an unexpected fart on a first date. The first Elder was just timid enough to speak in hushed tones while his dazzling companion was the conversational equivalent of eating a fistful of sand. I felt like the plate spinner on a 70's variety show just trying to kill a few minutes of light conversation.

Their timing was curious because I had exactly one hour with which to select from a houseful… Continue

Did the LDS church want you to drown? but those funky underwear were supposed to save you right?

Read an article lately that made me realize I was rowing my own boat while the LDS church was drilling holes in my boat of life!!!

Mormonism affects people in ways that are psychologically healthy and unhealthy. The purpose of this blog post is to provide you with…

Others see our choice in leaving the church as utter destruction.....

Making the choice to leave the Mormon church has made me realize that life has more meaning. Choices and changes don't seem that hard or that bad as once viewed in my own head when I was a member of the LDS church.   “For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn't understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.”   Those still in the Mormon church seem to know all…

Dealing with friends or family that are still LDS members

"It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell."

The Beauty Behind the Con

I'm somewhat struck this week by how widely embraced are the magical concepts woven into the fabric of Mormonism.

My siblings, in an effort to shepherd me back into the one true fold, (bless their little hearts) thought, if they could just expose me again to this magic perhaps I might just slide back under its spell.…

There's a surprise in my pants!

I'm wearing fresh non-magic undies today y'all!

It was less difficult than I thought to resist the urge to pencil-in my favorite Masonic symbols and on first pass, what they lack in supernatural properties they make up by not being ratty threadbare reminders of my lack of motivation to replace them.

Sorry, if you happen to be reading this and find it resembles a non-event, which you would be right to normally classify one's changing of underwear. However please…

I remember this talk and it rang so true. It made sense that the church is a temporary thing. The liars and cheats called apostles and prophets made Elder Poelman redo the talk to an empty conference center and then they edited out and replaced brainwashing ideas from their Big Brother message into the Ensign and archives.  For me I am sure that my brain latched onto the original…
