Do any of you know details about what happens when you resign from the church? Is it like an excommunication where the "bonds made in the temple are broken"? And if so, would they inform the people…Continue

"In my humble opinion, one of the most important things to do before telling your family is just to make the conscious decision to put your own happiness first. I realized I had been going to church most of my life to please other people, and when it…"
"Allow me to share a second post please. I find it interesting that some use the words "find out". Don't be afraid to live your life. It is "YOUR" life. You need no ones permission except your own for what you do or…"
"I have resigned, and I think my family is aware of it, though no one has said a thing about it to me. We mostly take a live/let live approach and don't talk about my non-belief. I know others have taken the route that Benee is taking."
"My family has never been notified and I've been free for a year now - wow time flies when you are having fun! I didn't want my parents to know for the same reason as you - but I did finally tell my sister and that went well. I had to do it…"
"In order to be free you must cut the chains, especially the chins that benefit them. A lady is in an abusive relationship. She refuses to actually leave. I can only ask, "why". What is delicious about abuse and conformity that you must…"
"Thanks Micah. I would like to officially resign, but like you said, I'm not sure it's worth the upset it might cause my family. Do you mind me asking if you have officially resigned? I believe Benee once told me she waited to resign until…"
"Unless your leaders know your parents directly, I doubt they would contact them. How your mom may find out is when they have her review the member records of all of her kids at tithing settlement, as your name would either not appear, or would no…"
Do any of you know details about what happens when you resign from the church? Is it like an excommunication where the "bonds made in the temple are broken"? And if so, would they inform the people that were you sealed to about it? I am considering doing this, but would also want to keep it a secret from my mother. I know that makes me sound like a coward, but she's very much a TBM and it would break her heart to see me officially resign. Thanks!See More
Two basic facts to start us off: I'm a recent ex-mormon and ex-wife. Both of those facts have given me a new found freedom in life and I'm excited to see where that will take me. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in English, creative writing emphasis (as well as Psychology and Sociology minors). I'd like to be a screenwriter/novelist, but we'll see what happens. I did a study abroad in May of 2006, the British Literary Tour. We traveled over to Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales. I just moved back to my hometown of Boise, ID and found a new job that I hope will be fulfilling...
Interests and Hobbies:
Writing, reading, drawing, watching movies, dancing, cooking, hanging out with friends, etc. Mostly the normal, same ol', same ol' kind of stuff I guess.
I've read a lot of good books, but none really stand out as an all time favorite. I love William Butler Yeats and Oscar Wilde. This summer I got into Sarah Dessen, who writes great young adult novels. I also like Harlan Coben for suspense. Stephen King is pretty good. That's all I can come up with for now...
Tough one. I'm big into movies. We'll just do a list: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Scream, Shaun of the Dead, Sliding Doors, Napolean Dynamite, The Notebook, The Village, Signs, Peter Pan, Flushed Away, Beauty and the Beast, O' Brother Where Art Thou?, Bandits, Disturbia, House of Wax (new version). The list is basically endless.
