Profile Information

Relationship Status (single, partner, etc):
divorced
My Story:
A teenage convert in 1968, in England. Church pressure caused a very early, and sadly, unhappy Temple marriage. Was very active for many years and served in lots of callings, including Bishoprics. Happy to be a father and feel the stresses placed on me by the church, made me fail the children in many respects.

Guess I always had issues about the church:- never had a full testimony of the BOM, Joseph Smith or Brigham Young. The priesthood ban caused by much soul searching. The temple really left me cold and the rituals I found quite distressing. Hated wearing garments and the increasing authoritan stance the church invaded my life with. Obsession about all aspects of my private life, and the expectation for me to exercise these intrusions in my calling, when interviewing people regarding "worthiness". Heck, I was only in my early 20's, and I was required to ask young people the most personal questions about their sexuality. Neither was I any more comfortable dealing with older people. I'd not even had any training and was totally immature in dealing with these subjects.

I twice drifted into inactivity and was reluctantly brought back into the fold.

Finally, when my marriage was in tatters, I moved far away from any branches or wards and to this day have had no contact with the church, although I still have ex-Mormon friends, and perhaps one still active, as well as my ex-wife who still attends her local ward.

Moved to Spain 11 years ago and am now, after all these years promted to finally do something about resigning my membership. There can be no going back for me now:- everything I hear regarding the antics of the GA's in SLC fills me with dismay!

Otherwise, I'm quite happy with life, but have no fellowship with any other religious denominations, but guess I still have the basic beliefs from my original upbringing in the Anglican Church.
Interests and Hobbies:
Music (all types), outdoor activities here in the mountains of Spain. Theatre and art, my dogs. Travel, especially Eastern Europe.
Favorite Books:
Parts of the bible, (not all)
History, biography. (read Fawn Brodie when I was in my twenties and intend to dig her out again).
Travel books.
Favorite Movies:
Musicals. Historical. Classics like "The Third Man".
Prefer European and World cinema to what mostly comes out of Hollywood these days.
Favorite activity after mormonism?
Most of the things I've already listed.

Mark E. Petersen NEVER saw his wife naked?  I mean, the dude admitted that?  I'd think his wife would be in jail by now for killing him.  Shit.

The kids and I will be visiting the south of Portugal this coming summer (yes, we already have our reservations since my German cousin plans well ahead). If we get the chance, when we pass through Spain, we can share a glass of wine.
