I came across this HuffingtonPost article about Romney and how he has been very quiet on his Mormonism. I liked this article because I think it asks some very reasonable, and important questions…Continue

How Did Mormons Grow So Fast? They Changed How They Counted

Started May 6, 2012 0 Replies

Here's an interesting piece I found about how the church reckons its membership numbers. All in all I think the church is dying, and it doesn't matter how they play with the numbers. …Continue

This is a perfect insight into the Mormon mindset. A father laments that his daughter has a hard life because she has strayed from the church. It is worth a read. …Continue

Old Ghosts

Posted on December 21, 2012 at 9:32pm 2 Comments

More and more frequently I feel lost. When I was a Mormon I was sure that the church was true. I did have my nagging doubts, especially when it came to: forgiveness, the eternal regression of gods, and how exalted beings with physical bodies make spirit children. However, despite my doubts I knew it was true. With this knowledge came the surety of my own damnation. I knew I was going to hell, to suffer for my own sins and then be sent to the lowest degree of glory. I had a firm grasp of the…

End Times Tirade

Posted on December 17, 2011 at 3:00am 15 Comments

The home teachers came by a few days ago and we (my mother, her parents, and I) had a lovely chat, even though I don’t agree with their beliefs. However one thing that came up struck me as odd, to understand it here’s a little background. My grandmother is what I would call a Mormon survivalist. She is 73 and has told me she won’t die, but that she’ll be “twinkled” and she oftentimes brings up the fact that one day we are all going to head back east to Missoura, yes Missoura, to build up…

Eternal Regression Ramble

While I was still a Mormon I had an interesting thought cross my mind. Why do we worship Elohim? Elohim was once a man, and had a father-god of his own. Why do we not worship him, because without this God neither Elohim nor we would exist?  Better yet why do we not worship this God’s father, Elohim’s grandfather? Following this vein, why do we not worship the very first God, the ultimate creator and the guy who set all of this up? However this original God is never talked or even thought…

Totalitarianism and Mormonism

Posted on October 17, 2011 at 2:15am 1 Comment

I have noticed a lot of similarities between the goals of totalitarian regimes of the past several decades and The Millennium as described by Mormons. This thought has been bouncing around in my head for a few years now; I was even chided for bringing it up by a devout, yet short tempered Mormon. Here is a list of similarities I have found, please feel free to correct or add.

  • A thousand year empire
  • Over the entire earth
  • Ruled by one…
