Profile Information

Relationship Status (single, partner, etc):
My Story:
Born in the covenant, seminary graduate, return missionary, married in the Salt Lake Temple, BYU graduate -- pretty much a hard core Mormon for most of my life. I left the church mentally and spiritually about 4 years ago, and explicitly about 2.5 years ago. My marriage imploded as a result, and now I find myself single, agnostic, and chomping at the bit to get out and explore this great big world around us that I had shut out inside my little Mormon bubble of a brainwashed mind. I love meeting new people, sharing experiences, watching movies, reading books about philosophy and religion, playing my guitar, travelling, and activism.
Interests and Hobbies:
Music, movies, travelling, having new experiences, making new friends.
Favorite Books:
Brave New World, The Age of Reason (Thomas Paine), The God Delusion, No Man Knows My History, By His Own Hand Upon Papyrus, Walden
Favorite Movies:
Wow - impossible to say but here are a few goodies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Matrix, Fight Club, The Usual Suspects, The Shawshank Redemption, Braveheart, Master and Commander, Babel, Inception, documentaries and independent films, I know I am not doing this list justice...
Favorite activity after mormonism?
I like meeting new people and making new friends really - I also seem to have a penchant for trying things that were taboo when I was a Mormon like new alcoholic beverages. :)

Do you mean Denver Tech?  I see there's a CB Potts there.  Also, could you resend that link for the ex-mo group?  I clicked on it and it said it didn't exist.  Thanks!

Thanks, but the Tech Center is way too far away for me. I'm a Boulder County Woman :-) and anything south of the Chez Artiste isn't doable on a Saturday Night. Besides, after having a glass or two of wine I'd have to call a very expensive cab. Please keep me in the loop.

Thanks for the invitation, Glaucon. I'll be there. It's a good time for me to become involved with the Denver group and I appreciate your initiative bringing us together. SJL

Yes, I remember as a child being told to make friends to try and get them to come to church-now – I make friends because I like someone.  I think if we lost friends because we left the church – they were not really friends.  The façade is off and veil is lifted and the world is a much more interesting place.

Hi Descartes 1979 -

I have not been LDS for many years but I am still effected by it –

My parents never talk about me – so no one will ask them what ward I live in. I feel my life in the church would have been a lie – I do feel authentic and I am glad I did not take the easy way out. I know they will never be proud of me - or even know who I really am.

I like you choice of movies –
