"Good for you!!!!!!.  I don't hear a lot of stories from people your generation leaving the church.  It must have been hard to let go of so many years of indoctrination."

"My partner's family is devout Catholic, as is my best friend in all the world. During the roughest times these past years I found more comfort from Mass than I ever did in a Mormon meeting. I figure nobody's got it right, but Catholicism…"

So, it was a long time coming

We were third generation LDS on my dad's side, Irish Catholic originally. I've been a skeptic since I was about 9 yrs old when I wanted to bring my little black friend to church. After all, she'd taken me to vacation Bible school where - get this - I saw my first picture of Jesus and had to ask who it was. I don't remember hearing a lot about Jesus as a child. At any rate, my father said no because she wouldn't feel comfortable there. I asked why not and got the dumb Cain story and said "That's…See More

Profile Information

Relationship Status (single, partner, etc):
Domestic partner
My Story:
3rd generation Mormon, I was a problem child always questioning the black thing (at age 9), then the polygamy thing, and finally, after Prop 8 in California I chose my gay son. I never realized how hurt he was that I continued in a church that reviled him even though I was so accepting of who he is.

And I am not shy, I've asked nearly every LGBT person I've met if they chose their life and to a man/woman they have replied "WHO would choose this?"

Besides, it's just so very far-fetched, and I got tired of emails from wonderful people about how Barack Obama is a Muslim...... ;-)
Interests and Hobbies:
People (my kids!), politics, hiking the gorgeous Colorado mountains, Shelties, books, religion - I'm curious about pretty much everything.
Favorite Books:
Jane Asten - Persuasion, Dickens, I guess I like Brit Lit & TV. Me Talk Pretty Too Someday, Harry Potter series, Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, anything by Riordan, Grapes of Wrath, Chronicles of Narnia, LoTR, 1984, To Kill a Mockingbird, this could go on a long time....
Favorite Movies:
Avatar, Harry Potter, Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, A Christmas Story, The Holiday, Christmas Vacation, Love Actually, Forrest Gump,
Favorite activity after mormonism?
Spending time with the man I love.....
