Profile Information

Relationship Status (single, partner, etc):

My Story:
I was a fifth-generation Mormon, served as a missionary to Brazil, was charged with "apostasy" (defined as "denial of the Holy Ghost"), and excomunicated (in my absence) many years ago. (I requested the excommunication; it took them a while to act--they wanted evidence.) I have been a lawyer and served as the head of communication to the field-force at MetLife but am now a writer of satirical fiction.
Interests and Hobbies:
I write, sing in two choirs, cook, play piano, paint, decorate--you name it. For the past 26 years, I have cooked at St. Joseph's Soup Kitchen in Greenwich Village, NYC--my second-most-favorite commitment of all time (the first being my partner).
Favorite Books:
I read constantly but Magic Mountain (T. Mann) is probably my favorite of all time. The most recent kick-in-the-pants book I read was "The Letters of Noel Coward" edited by Barry Day. I highly recommend it.
Favorite Movies:
I go to the opera more than the movies. This season, revivals of "Salome," "Madama Butterfly," and "Lucia di Lammermoor" at the Met were standouts.
Favorite activity after mormonism?
I like hanging out at friendly bars and have had a blast turning some of my past experiences into satire. I've created an alter ego--Robert Wayne Thompson--who is trying to show the world the one way to truth! It's his website that's listed below.

Thanks for the friend add David and the kind words. My father is a lawyer and TBM (true believing mormon) along with the rest of my family. I created this site after attending the exmo conference last year as I felt driven to do more to help recovering and shunned exmormons to find a new community. Thanks again for joining. I like your blog!
