I Was the Poster Child for the Perfect Mormon Girl

Posted on December 5, 2009 at 9:29pm 7 Comments

I was the poster child for the perfect mormon girl. I was always the one called on in primary to give the long talk. I was beehive president, mia maid secretary and laurel president. I was even the president of my seminary class. I was put in charge of every possible service project that came up. But, I had questions. Every bishop's interview would end with "you just have to have faith that it is true," I was never given a straight logical answer to valid questions. I was always academic… Continue

Have you read "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle? I'm reading it right now and it is having a very transformative affect on my perception of Now and staying connected to it.

Thanks for sharing your introduction with us!!! Welcome!!!
I cannot (yet) imagine facing the brutal judgement of those still active in the church either... eeewwww. I'm still crawling in to baby steps ~ though the rest of me ran screaming away from the church! LOL!
My VT is a great gal with lots of beautiful babies... but I SO do't look forward to her judgement. She's been a great friend but she's "opinionated" in a way that I am not.
I've got a long way to go ~ and am beginning, here, to enjoy the journey myself! Best Wishes ~

Welcome Cali! Glad you found the community. I can just imagine how harsh teachers would be to a "rebel" teacher who leaves the church. Hopefully we can help comfort you all through that when it comes out. My sister is a teacher at an elementary in Lehi. You will find a lot of great support here and other exmo/postmo sites. Good luck!
