Profile Information

Relationship Status (single, partner, etc):
Single, in the process of getting divorced
My Story:
I'm 30, was raised mormon in Norway.Moved to UT when I was 19, got married and had 4 kids. Around 2005 started doubting what I had been taught my whole life, but was not strong enough to do anything about it. I reached a breaking point last year. I told my then husband how I felt and he littearlly treated me like I was dead. He told me he chose the church over me and we fought alot. When I finally decided to leave him I was ostercized and had no one left but my kids. I was so suicidal and depressed that moved out of SLC and moved in with a friend in Denver, CO.I'm still here and love it. I miss my kids, but am realizing that no matter what happens I've lost them. He has mormon doctors and therapsists for them and have painted a horrible picture of me so there is no justice in a cout room coming my way.
I'm glad I finally made it out, and am free to be me, but it's also hard to reprogram your mind. I try to stay positive and am learning every day that I am worth something as a person.
Interests and Hobbies:
Movies,Avenged Sevenfold (I'm super obsessed with them), going to school to be a junior high teacher in innercity schools ala dangerous minds :)
Favorite Books:
Twilight Saga, cheesy but true :)
Favorite activity after mormonism?
Dating, though it's hard. Drinking sometimes, and I've picked up the unhealthy habit of smoking but it helps keep me grounded.

Need some help

My name is Ana and I left the church about a year and a half ago. A consequence of this is that I also left my soon-to-be ex and my children. I'm really just looking for someone who's been there,is there, and can help with some advice. I should say I'm not a mormon hater, it's just not right for me...

Sorry for the last minute notice - I hit this to my email list, but forgot to blast it out on this site...

For our July meetup, Carrie has graciously offered to host a BBQ at her home in Littleton. We are shooting for tomorrow Sunday July 24th (Pioneer Day - how is that for irony?) at 5pm. The address is 8881 W. Cooper Ave Littleton, Co 80128.

Pot luck style - so bring your own meat, side dish, and alcohol. We also are a tad short on lawn chairs, so if you have one that would be helpful to bring as well.

Please send me a quick note if you are going to come so we can get a sense for how many people will be coming.

Hope to see you there!

Hi Ana.  I see you live in Westminster, and so do I.  I'm going to be at the ExMo gathering at CB Potts tomorrow (Sat., 2/26) and I hope to meet you there.  My daughter Monica will be there, too -- she's 28 so closer to your age.  I'm really glad they started these get-togethers.  I've been in CO for about 10 months now, and it's get getting to know people, especially those who've been through the Mormon wringer like me.

Hey Ana - sorry for another comment, but I was just reading through your info above, and it just broke my heart. I am also in the midst of a divorce and my ex has my kids most of the time. If you ever want to talk, hit me up.

Hey Ana - we are having another meetup this coming Saturday if you are interested. We are meeting at the CB Potts in the tech center here: http://bit.ly/gySXqa

Ask for the Ex Mormon group - reservation is for 6pm - I personally can't show up until about 8, but we should have a few people there at 6. Hope to see you there! If you are coming hit me up so we can plan appropriately.

Hey Ana - we are having a Denver exmo meetup/social and thought you might be interested. Sunday (1/30) at 12:30 at Brooklyn's - its a restaurant right next to the Pepsi Center. I think we have a pretty good group coming, but would love to have one more exmo from the area!

Hi Ana,

Thanks for friending me. It's nice to meet you. You have an amazing story, thanks for sharing it, and I'm glad that you are a survivor of your circumstances. I hope it gets easier for you. I went on a camping trip in the Southwestern part of Colorado, through the San Juan Mountains, and it was absolutely breathtaking! I live in Portland, Oregon. I hope to chat with you more.

Thanks for inviting me into your life. We are part of a special demographic which will never be understood by outsiders. Thankfully, we are living in a homogeneous area that really doesn't give a rip which god, if any, we believe in.
Take care,
Shirley

Boy, my spelling was terrible. That is what I get for responding at 3 in the morning and no spell-check. I have not had to walk in your shoes but there must be some way in the US to get partial custody, or visiting rights for the children to visit you. Meanwhile write your kids at least once a week individually, send the letters by registered mail so there is proof the you did your best to keep in touch with them. If at a legal age they accuse you will have proof and the whole thing will explode on your ex if he does not share the letters with the children. Sometimes it is good to talk, as that is when ideas can open and be explored.
My email is dalfred1066@hotmail.com if you wish to correspond

you did not give a lot of infoemation so all I can say is build the best relationship with your chilren that you can. If you need a lawyer to gat shared excess with the children than get one. Living with the truth is better than living in a lie. Make the best of it and good luck
