My wife and I enjoy wine tasting, and maybe it's a consequence of starting late in life (that Mormon thing, you know), but we've concluded that right here in our beautiful California coast is where…Continue

So, yeah, I'm a French wine snob. Italian, too, but not so much as my love for the French. On Friday night I enjoyed a beautiful glass of Paul Jaboulet Cabernet Sauvignon. Soon, I'll be able to sip a…Continue

I joined, but I am not what I'd consider an aficionado!

I do however strongly recommend this movie on the subject:
John Cleese's Wine for the Confused
2004NR92 minutes
Wine snobs, beware: Monty Python's witty John Cleese aims to educate the masses with this enlightening, snoot-free wine guide. Cleese guides wine novices through the basics -- finding wines you like, getting the best value, and serving and storing wine at home. His vintner's tour includes lessons in wine vocabulary and identifying subtle flavors. Not a fan of snobbery in the least, Cleese also reveals how to cork up condescending sommeliers.

I'm no afico-whats-ma call-it, but I like what I like, Penfolds Koonunga hill (shiraz), Hardy's Butchers gold (shiraz sangiovese) and Peter Lehmann Barossa (semillon). Plus a whole lot of others!

An easy to drink white wine that we like is from Sutter Home and is called Moscato. We bought some Chilean wine to try and will report on it once we've given it a try.
