I have invested over thirty years in studying the Bible and about it. I've been to Israel and seen the proof of the archeological digs. It is infallible, it's historical record is validated in every…Continue

Objective morals from Science and Reasoning

When people find out I’m an atheist the most common question I get is “Where do you get your morals from if you don’t believe in God?” Now I know other atheists that are moral, so being an atheist…Continue

I'm new to this group but I thought that I'd start a discussion about something that seems to come up rather regularly. And that of course is evolution. The thing that seems to come up so often with…Continue

I'm new to LAM.  This was the only discussion group that seems interesting to me.  But I don't want to misrepresent or mess up the chat on here.  I don't think I'm totally atheistic.  I recently read a couple of books by an atheist, and I can't even remember his name now but I was very impressed.  Apparently there is much more to atheism than my formerly simplistic view of it.  He wasn't about attacking theism, as I formerly imagined.  He was all about anchoring morality in a foundation much more solid than mindless belief in mythology.

I think this describes, in a nutshell, why it is that many of us consider ourselves atheists.

I really dislike the "don't believe in God" phrase. Believing in X does not affect X's actual validity!! I used to believe in God with my whole heart and being, but that didn't make him exist more and more.

The only true Americans are Atheist these days. All the pious religious people have aligned themselves with the very ideologies that America was founded to eradicate. Down with religious tyranny! Down with "God"! And up with individualism and diversity!

This girl totally rocks, btw. Richard Dawkins should sponsor her athletic career.
