Howdy folks. I don't know what I am. I tend toward nature worship. I came to my way of thinking by talking to some Native Americans about their religions and from a fairly profound dream. In the dream I felt like I was part of a larger organism much like a liver is part of a human body. If the liver could think, it wouldn't necessarily know it wasn't an individual. It was a weird dream and I don't hang too much on it. However, I figured that was something there. Everything down to the smallest molecule in the body acts as if it is an individual and in many senses those particles are individuals. They also cannot survive without a greater community. That is how we fit in nature. I haven't read any pagan literature and don't know for sure that I am a pagan. I believe the natural world supports us completely and enhance our spirituality by becoming in tune with the natural world.

Most of them celebrate in some way the turning of the seasons, and many of them also do ritual according to the moon's cycle. In terms of what type of ritual? That's hard to say... Just like Judaism, Christianity and Muslem are related in that they believe in the god of Abraham, they have completely different rituals and holidays. So it is with Pagans. When I have a little more time, I will describe the kind of ritual I do. The normal joke is if you get 10 pagans in a discussion, you'll have 12 answers. That's pretty normal *lol*

Interesting. I fully agree with your Wiccan Rede. Are there specific spiritual practices or rituals that pagans do/follow?

According to the dictionary, a pagan is anyone who's religion is something other than Christian, Jewish or Moslem. In modern religious lingo it would also exclude most traditions of Buddhism. There are as many different Traditions (denominations) of Pagan belief as there are Christian denominations. Each has its own Pantheon of God/dess' and basic beliefs. Really, the only generalization one can make is that most of them are Nature-based, look to old cultural mythologies for their Pantheons, and believe in some form of Spiritual Magick.

My husband is Native American (Nez Perce) and I am Celtic, so we mix these two traditions to make our own. However, we try to live by the Wiccan Rede, which is "Do what ye will, but harm none." Wicca is just one type of Paganism. There is also Asatru, Santeria, Voodun, Druidism, and as many as there are cultures and mythologies in the world.

Does that make any sense????

Over at beliefnet.com Neo Pagan matches my beliefs when taking their "Belief-O-Matic" quiz to identify compatible belief systems. I am not sure what all Pagan's practice or what their creeds are though as I arrived at my beliefs without knowing reading pagan stuff. I would be interested in knowing more our of curiosity as I doubt I'll ever religiously follow any belief system again.

I have found it fascinating to see how many people go to the Pagan Path after leaving the Morg. I thought perhaps we could discuss our transitions etc.
