Comment by Larry on December 29, 2012 at 10:21am Something musical for New Years Eve, 2012.
If you like the Tabernacle Organ (or haven't heard it played in an upbeat style) and like loud trumpet music, come to the tabernacle on temple square at 6:00p on New Years eve. The group Gabriel (7 trumpets, drums, synth, and yours truly on the organ) will perform non-church music for half and hour. Free.
Program:
Shades of Rondeau (jazzed up version of Mouret's tune)
Who Will Buy (jazzed up version from Oliver)
Ring in the New (new composition for the occasion)
Toccata (The famous organ toccata of Widor with added brass)
Trumpet Involuntary (a ridiculous competition of classical style versus those who are tired of playing the old tried and true)
Hallelujah chorus (a new version of the old)
Happy New Year everyone.
will be in Ogden March 8,9, 10 and Las Vegas March 11-17, Any one in Post Mo Musicians from there?

Comment by Carl Reese on December 8, 2011 at 1:04am Hello folks. I have been absent from LAM for a while but thought of this group recently. I started a facebook community group for songwriters and people interested in songwriting. There isn't much in it at the moment because I started it ten minutes ago but I have been thinking about this for a while. The page is a place for musicians to post music and discuss the art of writing songs. Check it out if you want. Also, feel free to recommend this page to anybody that you think would like this sort of thing.
