Missed the 4th weekend, but was planning on a get-together at Blitz Ladd this coming Sunday (July 11), sort of our 'normal' monthly meetup. If no objections, I'll get announcements up tonight and call the Ladd in case they have conflicts.

I had figured the 4th (first sunday) wouldn't work well.

I have plans already. Can't wait to get a chance to meet you though!

I'm interested, and my huge backyard is available if you're also looking for a place. If you decide to go ahead with this, I'll put an invite out to the NWExmo list also. I think there's a lot of us single and don't often do much on these holidays -- but the invite would be open to couples also, right?

Hello all you PNW'rs out there! I am interested in getting the summer started off with a bang! Are any of you interested in pulling together to have a BBQ over July 4 weekend?

Thanks everyone who came to the movie and get-together yesterday. The movie, "8: The Mormon Proposition" was fantastic and I highly recommend it. The meetup was outstanding. Thanks to Sue who got us the venue and to the ca. 25 people who came!

Meetup May 2!

Tentatively at Blitz Ladd. May change to Sckavone's if Blazers are still playing.

Well, I am open to whatever anyone wants to do. I am definitely not "invested" in Skavone's other than the fact that of the places we tried it seemed quietest. Hmmmmm, it is a thinker!

I liked the couches at the Ladd and more 'group' atmosphere. It's close enough to Sckavone's that it wouldn't matter between them for most folks.

My $0.02 on the other issues:
Food - I thought they were about the same, but that's me.
Noise / conversation: if the Ladd were quieter, I think it would have worked. But it was noisy enough, even after many folks dissipated, that I could really only hear the 2-3 people sitting next to me anyway. So it ended up being equivalent (for me) to Sckavone's, for me. (Sckavone's doesn't have a working TV, so it has no chance of having the sports-bar vibe.)

We asked before at the first place we tried - they have a room that can be reserved, but it costs $. (Like $150 or something.) If we regularly had like 30 people, that would be good, but otherwise...

One challenge is food v. mingling, I think. For eating, it's nice to sit at a table. For mingling and talking, the table gets in the way. We might want to consider either arranging tables differently at more restaurant style - or skipping food so mingling is easier? Just spitballing.

I'm happy to manage directions and invites, but I _really_ don't know places and don't get to central/east Portland hardly ever. So I would still love suggestions.
