Naturalism

Inspired by my brother Carl (Hiker Daddy) who doesn't know if he's a Pagan, but thinks he might be a Naturalist. I guess that would be about the simplest way to identify my beliefs too - so we've got a group of at least two.

Next summer I am planning on climbing the Grand Teton in August with some other postmos. You are on a friend of that climb on facebook. I suppose I should iron down a real date because that is only ten months away.

My options for summer are pretty loose other than that. One option I toyed with is to fly to Seattle, climb Mount Rainier, go visit my brother in Portland for a few days, drive to Idaho and climb the Grand and drive back to the SEATAC. It would be a good ten day trip. You are invited to the Grand trip and basically expected for Rainier.

Msg I sent to Carl,

Hey Carl, I started a "Naturalism" Group on here, inspired by your post on the Pagan Group, since you said you tend towards nature worship, which resonated with me.

I know we've had this discussion in the past about our common love of the outdoors and of all things written by John Muir. But have you been watching Ken Burn's The National Parks:America's Best Idea series that is running right now on PBS? John Muir is really the star of the show.
Some of the Muir quotes Burns uses really sum up my existential beliefs, which are eerily similar to yours.
Dude, we really have got to get together for a paddle or a hike one of these days. What are you doing next summer?
