Comment by pollypinks on December 31, 2012 at 12:19pm Some may feel that atheists are missing out. That's a natural reaction if you are part of a believing community, but, for those who don't believe, they don't feel a sense of missing out. Many atheists belief in us passing on from this physical life to another form of life, and don't attribute it to religion, and this is a feasible way of making non-belief work. Many are buddhists, and they do not consider themselves pagans, and do consider a life after this physical one to be very real. Any and all of these options can be very fulfilling, and the plethora of universal scripture in the bible, whether or not we consider it tradition or revelation, abides in the belief that all will be reunited with loved ones and animals. Were it not true, why then would there be 50-60 universal scriptures, including one from Paul, stating, "All mankind will see God's salvation." I wouldn't worry for two seconds about non believers, or, believers in differing religions. the only reason I worry about fundamentalists is because they make my life so damn hard with their hate and judgementalism, calling on God's wrath as a reason for natural disaster, or terrifying acts of hate. Franklin Graham has left his father's belief system by declaring God punishing us through tragedy because of our sin and disbelief. Mega church leaders love to blame homosexuals for natural disaster. These kinds of thoughts and actions that encourage hate in others are far more serious than those who choose atheism as their belief system.

Comment by hagiasophia on July 6, 2011 at 3:24pm <sigh> I had a feeling that the 'Catholic' thing would elicit some comments. I'm not really interested in getting into the Protestant vs. Catholic debate here, although if someone really wants to know why, with a great deal of study and prayer, I am considering Catholicism, I would be happy to share.

Comment by hagiasophia on July 6, 2011 at 2:34pm Hello everyone,
I'm new to this site and consider myself a believer in Christianity, but have not formally joined any particular church yet (l am leaning towards Catholicism though).
I'm wondering what kept people here interested in Christianity, since so many exMormons seem to abandon belief all together? How many of you had some experience in other Christian traditions before leaving Mormonism? For how many was the study of historical Christianity part of the reason why you left the LDS church?
