I just got home from spending TWO hours at the clinic and they didn't do squat for my syringe issue. The resident wrote me a script for "a box" of them and said he thought their pharmacy would just fill the order without billing Medi-Cal. NOT!!! He wouldn't fax the paperwork out of my chart but gave me a slip to come back to urgent care on Friday morning to repack the wound again PLUS we can track down my doctor (cuz he's there only on Fridays) and have him do the paperwork and fax it. But it turns out the pharmacy manager isn't working on Friday so who knows if the paperwork will get submitted to Medi-Cal or not. Even if it does, my biggest fear is that it won't satisfy their requirements and we'll have to start all over again. I've been reusing needles for over a week now. I'm sooo frustrated I could "spit bullets". Thanks pollypink for the advice; I will definitely keep it in mind. I have thought about what Medi-Cal would say when I end up in the ER in a diabetic coma and they will be held legally responsible!! What would be their excuse then??? Thanks for the support and encouragement...I honestly appreciate it sooo much!! (I wish you could have been with me too!!) Ok, thanks for letting me vent!!
Hi there Pollypinks!
Welcome to our little group! We don't chat as often as I'd like us to but I think all of us here are ready, willing and able anytime one of us needs support (but then, I'm the one who has the "gift of gab") :)
My pain levels vary but no, I don't have any doctors helping me and I don't take any pain meds either. I call it the "suck it up and bite the bullet" approach. Friday they lance a HS cyst on the back of my neck and packed it which I had repacked yesterday. It's over an inch deep and obviously painful but the county clinic didn't even bother to ask me if I wanted pain medication. But I try to tell myself the less drugs the better.
I have to go back to the clinic tomorrow because Med-Cal is refusing to fill the doctor's order for 180 syringes for my diabetes shots (6x per day). They want the doctor to "justify" why I need 6 shots. HUH? They already filled my insulin(s) prescriptions and increased my testing supplies but they don't wanna cough up the needles? And besides...what exactly do they mean by justify? Does patient/doctor confidentiality not apply here? So now I have to go back to the clinic early tomorrow morning and deal with it...which isn't gonna be easy cuz the doctor I see is only there 1/2 days on Fridays (he's a "fellow" level which is above attending). I'm NOT looking forward to this mess. But I've already been re-using my needles and that's a big NO NO. Wish me luck!!
