Starbucks-like Mocha Frappuccino (bottled variety) recipe and ingredients

We have gotten "addicted" to the bottled Starbucks Mochas from the grocery store but at $2.68 for 12 ounces, they aren't exactly cheep.  I found the recipe below online and found it to be very similar and much more affordable.  I made it with Starbucks Espresso roast ground coffee and whole milk.  Makes about 64 ounces (8 x 8-ounce servings).  Adjust sugar or chocolate portions if too sweet or too chocolaty.

Ingredients and amounts:

  • cups espresso coffee (brewed/percolated)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • cups milk
  • 3/4 cup chocolate syrup
  • (optional) whipped cream, for topping
  • (optional) chocolate syrup, for topping
  • (optional) Ice

  1. Make coffee, follow directions for your favorite brand of espresso roast coffee.
  2. In 64 ounce+ mixing container, stir sugar into the still hot coffee until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add milk and chocolate syrup and continue mixing, about one minute.
  4. Pour mix into a sealable container for easy storage.
  5. Store in fridge until ready to use (Note: Do not store any longer than you would milk).
  6. (optional)For iced mocha drink, combine equal parts mix and ice in a blender and blend on high until smooth.
  7. Pour into glasses.
  8. (optional)Top each glass with whipped cream and drizzle with chocolate syrup.
  9. Serve.
