I am a survivor of sexual abuse.  I did a lot of work on it a while ago, (therapy - support groups) but I still have some issues.  I am actually going to be seeing my abuser, my father, in a few months after not seeing him for twenty years so it may be a good idea to have some extra support.

My name is Mikayla, and I am a survivor of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, but none of this happened while a member of the Mormon church.  This was my childhood to adulthood, starting around age 2-3, and not ending until I got out of that house at 19.  There was a renewed attempt by my father when I was a young mother, and waiting to join my husband overseas at our new duty station.  I slept walked through life, juggling all the balls in the air to keep moving forward, taking care of my family, but then, one day in 1994, I couldn't keep the balls up anymore and I fell hard down the rabbit hole of depression.  It took many hospitalizations, experimenting with various anti-depressants to find what would work, also multiple sessions of ECT, and 10 long years of therapy to claw my way up and out of that rabbit hole and put together a new me.

I tried to sit down with both of my parents to discuss my childhood and they continued to plead ignorance, so I cut off all contact so I could try to heal myself. I never did reconcile with my father, and only just barely with my mother just before her death. My sister felt it was important for me to see her again before she died, so I spent her last two weeks on this earth caring for her. She finally filled in some very important information for me, not to me directly, but to my cousin, who then told me. Secrets, always secrets.

I'm interested in joining this group.  I've had therapy over the years to help me deal with the aftermath of my abuse but I've never talked with other people who experienced sexual abuse. To be able to talk to other survivors of both sexual abuse and mormonism would be great.

Good book. I was in a program designed by the author. I'd love to join.I'd love to hear other stories of mormons who were abused, and the church concealed their perpetrators

I would be interested in joining.  I also have a question regarding our church records.  I am extremely concerned that this information about me is in the Mormon records and my family's records.  Is there anyway to get those records removed from their custody?  More than 30 years ago,... I don't know maybe it's not an issue...

While I was abused by a family member, and the church opted to keep everything quiet and I never received help when I needed it, I'm not too sure it would be beneficial to me. I do support the idea of having a group like this though. Good luck
