When it was first aired, I was an undecided mormon. I had doubts, but not enough to follow through with leaving. However, PBS showed me the light. After watching, I posted a note on facebook and by request, here it is.
So I found out something that the LDS aka Mormon church does things that are non Christian nevermind unethical. They quietly excommunicate intellectuals, feminists, and homosexuals. Anybody that threats the core of the church. They give you the option of being quiet or get taken to court and excommunicated. It has been lie this from the beginning. Like c'mon.. Christ wouldn't have done that. He would've discussed things. And due to this recent discovery and other things we have decided to get our names removed completely from their records.
This uproots me totally. Everything I was raised has been shattered. Now I don't know where to go. Sigh.
It was scary. I didn't know where to go. I could hardly breathe. Don't wish this reaction on anybody. I just knew I could not stay,
A man is accepted into a church for what he believes and he is turned out for what he knows.– Samuel Clemens
We were told to watch this in church by our Bishop. So I thought it would be an LDS fluff piece, I remember thinking, boy I think they might regret this. Prop 8 was heating up around this time...I think??? All I know is that I was already disgusted. One more nail in the coffin for my Mormon identity.
