Southern California Exmos, on Saturday, October 8th, where will you be? Hopefully you will be joining us for the next installment of "Socal Exmo's Unite!"
The same as with past events, there will be culture, fun, food, and camaraderie of fellow exmormons (and we're a great bunch, aren't we?). If you are only able to make part of the event, no problem at all. Come for as much of the event as you are able to make.
Here is the plan:
We will meet at the Armory Center for the Arts
in Old Town Pasadena at 3:00pm. There are 3 galleries at the museum and it should take an hour or so to go through. Following the museum, there will be an activity of some sort. Last time, the photo scavenger hunt in Little Tokyo went over well so I may set up another one of those, or I will come up with something else fun.
Then, at 5:30pm we will meet for dinner at Pita Jungle
is on Colorado Blvd in Old Town. Pita Jungle is relatively new to the area, so chances are you have not been there before. The word "pita" is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to describing the food there, and the food is excellent. The menu makes it very hard to choose. I've had the seared Yellowfin Tuna Honey Sesame Salad and the Spicy Chicken Wrap and both were delicious. The Spicy Chicken Wrap was about as big as my head and very reasonably priced. They should give an award to people who finish it.
After dinner, those of us who are up for dessert (in other words, those who did not finish the Spicy Chicken Wrap) will walk to Dot's Cupcakes
for a cupcake. These cupcakes are great! If I have to turn in my man-card for bragging about cupcakes, so be it. I cannot tell a lie, these cupcakes are the best.
Parking in Old Town can be tricky. The meters on the street run until midnight, so you gotta careful with those. Here is a map
of the parking options in Old Town. For the lots that are 90 minutes free, they are $2/hour thereafter. If you don't mind walking a few blocks there is some free parking nearby that you may run across. Another option is the Metro for those who want to take public transportation. The Memorial Park Station on the Gold Line is closest to the Armory Center, but the Del Mar Station also provides easy access to Old Town.
As always, please RSVP and let me know whether you plan to be there. Also, please let me know if you'll be there for the museum portion of the event.
Can't wait to see everyone again and can't wait to meet some new folks!
