Attention all Southern Californians! This is an event you won’t want to miss.
On Saturday, June 9th, from 3:00pm to whenever, will be The Inaugural SoCal DAMU* BBBQ. The extra B stands for…wait for it…the beach!
Picture in your minds the following scene: Another perfectly warm Southern California day. The cool ocean water. Kids frolicking on the sand and in the surf. The smell of hickory smoked ribs in the fire pit. The company of your fellow LAManites. The gentle breeze. The sunset over the ocean at the end of another beautiful California day. Seriously, what could possibly be a better way to spend the afternoon/evening on June 9th?
Here is what you need to know:
The event is on Saturday, June 9th from around 3:00pm to whenever (the beach closes at 10:00pm, but of course you can leave whenever).
We will be at Bolsa Chica State Beach, which is between Seal Beach and Huntington Beach. Here is a map to the location. If driving from the north on the PCH, the parking entrance is at the first street light south of Warner. If driving from the south on PCH, the parking entrance is at the first street light north of Seapoint. You can’t miss it.
Parking at the beach is $15, cash only. You may be able to park nearby for free, but you’ll have to walk farther to get to the beach.
We will be barbecuing ribs in a firepit on the beach. The ribs will go on about 3:00pm and will be ready to eat around 5:30 to 6:00. Before the food is ready, people can enjoy the water and sand, kids can play, and we’ll have the awesome company of all of us. When the food is ready, we’ll eat, visit some more, relax, hang out, watch the sunset over the ocean, and leave whenever people want.
YOU MUST RSVP. Let me say that again. YOU MUST RSVP. We won’t know what fire pit we will have until the day of the event, so as soon as I know exactly where on the beach we will be, I will send out a message to everyone who RSVP’d letting them know where on the beach we are at. Or, if you have a refined sense of smell, perhaps you can follow your nose to the scent of hickory smoked BBQ. That might work.
There are no pets allowed on the beach, so unless your pet will be okay hanging out in the parking lot, leave your pet at home.
Even though this is obviously a LAM event, it is also an event for the entire family so people all across the belief spectrum are welcome so bring along your family and friends who might not otherwise identify with the DAMU.
