Registration and Hotel information

The Hotel

The Embassy Suites has reserved a block of rooms for the conference at a reduced rate. In order to reserve a room, please call the hotel at            801-359-7800       and ask for the Reservation Clerk. When you reach her, ask specifically for a room in the Exmormon Foundation block. Do NOT call the national phone number, because they consistently do not have the information about the block of rooms, and will book you into a more expensive room. If you have any problems at all in booking a room, please write to Sue at sue97062@aol.com and ask her for assistance. Last year we had all 80 rooms in our block taken about 3 weeks before the conference, so do book early. If you decide to come close to the conference, and the rooms are gone, Sue may be able to assist getting you a room if there any left in the hotel. The hotel provides a shuttle to and from the airport, and there is free parking at the hotel for those who drive.

The Embassy Suites includes a fully cooked-to-order breakfast each morning in the beautiful hotel atrium, and a manager's hosted bar in the evenings - over all, the hotel is a great value!. Staying at the hotel, and being there for the entire conference really does enhance your experience for the weekend!

Due to the nature of the conference presentations and the serving of alcohol during the evenings, we have established a strict policy that no children are allowed except for nursing infants. In addition, since the presentations are recorded for our website, it's important that we control the ambient noise during the recordings. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact the Conference Chairman.

I don't know if I am gonna be able to go but I'd like to.    As a Hilton Employee, I know that Central Reservations should be able to make reservations under the room block.  They use the same systems we do at the hotels.

You may not be able to get the block discount without calling the local number though.  That has been the experience for reservations in the past.

I would encourage everyone to make an account at www.hhonors.com.   The account is free and each time you stay at a Hilton property including Embassy Suites, Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites, Doubletree, Hampton Inn, etc.  you will receive points and then enough points will get you a free stay at a hotel depending on how many points that specific hotel requires.   When you call you just give them your membership number and your name, address, phone number, etc. are all there without you having to give it to them.

The local number for room blocks is the best to call but on the scenario where it is after business hours and you don't wanna take the chance that all of them might get taken before they call you back I would at least try the Central Reservations number.  They can look up room blocks under the convention category and if they don't have them they'll tell you, and they will confirm the rate with you over the phone before they process the reservation and you'll get an e-mail with the details so you can call if it isn't accurate.

It actually sounds fun and I would really like to go.   Maybe if by some magic I have a lot of money to spend at that time I might.  However, I haven't been paying my family the typical 200 bucks per month since I am going to school so taking off for Utah for an Ex-Mormon Conference might kind of seem like a slap in the face to them.

Just wanted to remind everyone that our block of rooms situation is a little more limited this year because of renovations that will be going on at the hotel.  (These renovations will not impact the rest of the space we will be using in the hotel).
There will not be the same flexibility to get additional rooms after the deadline this year.  In addition, there are very, very few rooms with double beds available. About a third of the block has already been reserved, so I would nudge you to get your reservations in if you plan to stay at the hotel.  Call 801.359.7800 and ask for Reservations - and be sure you ask for the Exmormon Foundation block..
If you are new to the ex-mormon community and don't know much about the Conference, please go to our website and click on the Conference link on the Home Page.  www.ExmormonFoundation.org   If you have any questions, feels free to write to me.  If you'd rather talk to me, send me your phone number.

I'm actually seriously considering going.  It would depend on if I could get off of work or not though just because I noticed our fall break for classes is on the following week so I wouldn't miss any school.  I imagine by then my work might hire someone else to cover for me for 2-3 nights per week since they are doing interviews.  I am looking at air fares.  I wouldn't be able to stay at the Embassy Suites though because management took off the discounts for that weekend because of the Ex-Mormon Block.

I'm not sure what you mean by this:  " I wouldn't be able to stay at the Embassy Suites though because management took off the discounts for that weekend because of the Ex-Mormon Block."  Do you work at The Embassy?  There are also people looking for roommates to share the cost.

That would be awesome if you could come Nathan.  I think there are other Hilton owned Inns and hotels very close to the Embassy Suites, one across the street if I remember.  Let us know if you end up coming.

@Susan-   It was hotel business jargon.  I should have explained it better.   What I meant was that for Hilton Employees they have a team member worldwide discount program but only if the hotel is offering it on those specific days.  Most likely due to the room block for the conference, management has blocked employee rooms for that weekend.

If I decide to come I think I will call the manager and ask if they can make an exception and allow me to stay at employee rate of $39.00 per night.  If not I can find another hotel in the area.  There is a Hilton Garden Inn in Salt Lake as well along with some others.

I have officially filled out the paperwork for requesting days off and I asked to be told yes or no by two weeks at the latest.  The issue is I am the only night auditor here now and even if they hire someone they have been having some issues with people quitting after they are done with training.   I'm gonna be pretty busy at work the next few weeks training the new employees that they hire.

If I get my request approved though, I will most likely come as long as the air fares don't sky rocket in the next couple weeks and at least one Hilton downtown is offering discounts.
